How ranking works
Every business on this site is ordered by the same score. Nobody can pay to move up it. Here is the whole formula — read it, and you know exactly what to do next.
Most local directories sell the top spot. We decided not to, which means we owe you an explanation of what actually decides the order — so here is the entire formula, with nothing held back.
Every listing is scored out of 100. Results are sorted by that score, highest first. The same formula is applied to every business, including any business owned by the people who run this site.
Profile completeness
Phone number, street address, map location, opening hours, a description of at least 200 characters, and a website if you have one. This is simply whether someone can find you and reach you.
Photos
Three points per photo, up to five photos. Pictures of the actual shop and actual work — not stock images. This is the single biggest thing most listings are missing.
Verification
Eight points for a phone number verified by OTP, five for a listing claimed by its owner, two for a verified GST number.
Customer reviews
Half for how many reviews you have, half for the average rating. Only reviews from verified phone numbers count, so buying reviews moves nothing.
Business detail
At least three services listed, the brands you stock, the year you started, and a correctly chosen category.
Kept up to date
Full marks if your details were confirmed in the last 90 days, dropping to zero after a year. A wrong phone number is worse than no listing, so this decays on purpose.
Responds to enquiries
Measured from real enquiries once your listing is claimed. Unclaimed listings sit at zero rather than being penalised further.
Guruji Score

What we will never do
- Sell a position in the results. Not now, not later.
- Move a business down for not paying, or for being listed somewhere else too.
- Run a paid placement without labelling it. If money changed hands, the word "Promoted" appears on it.
- Charge you when your phone rings. The number on your listing is your own number.
The fastest way to climb
- Claim your listing — it is free and takes a phone call.
- Add five real photos. Worth up to 15 points and almost nobody does it.
- Fill in hours, services and the year you started.
- Ask a few genuine customers to leave a review.
- Come back twice a year and confirm your details are still right.
